World’s oldest full star chart misplaced for millennia present in medieval manuscript

Scientists could have simply found a fraction of the world’s oldest full star chart.

The map section, which was discovered beneath textual content on a sheet of medieval parchment, is believed to be a duplicate of the long-lost star catalog of the second-century BC Greek astronomer Hipparchus, who made the earliest identified try and map the whole night time sky. The fragment was hidden below 9 leaves, or folios, of the non secular Codex Climaci Rescriptus at St. Catherine’s Monastery in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
